Welcome to a New Year at Anne Sexton Pilates! | Hi everyone, Anne here. Welcome to all our new and returning members — and thank you, as always, for your continued support. We’re so grateful to be part of your movement and wellness journey. 2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year, with new programmes, new classes, and deeper education to help you feel stronger, healthier, and more supported in your body. Stay tuned — there’s so much more to come. | Why January Feels Heavy (and It’s Not Your Fault) | After thirty years working in the wellness field, I see the same pattern every year. As inflammation rises, the body reacts — energy drops, digestion falters, pain gets louder. The body keeps the score — but it also responds remarkably well to the right input. After Christmas, weeks of richer food, more sugar and alcohol, less movement, disrupted sleep, and emotional overload can increase low-grade inflammation. The body feels it — especially in the gut, fascia, and nervous system. | Fascia, our connective tissue network, responds directly to: -

Movement If January feels harder than usual, it’s often not a lack of motivation — it’s your body asking for support. Warning Signs of Chronic Inflammation Some common signs include: -
Digestive issues (bloating, reflux, constipation, diarrhoea) -
Fatigue and brain fog -
Joint and muscle pain -
Headaches -
Sleep disturbances -
Skin conditions (eczema, acne, dry eyes) -
Anxiety or low mood -
Hormonal and fertility issues -
Weight gain, especially around the middle The good news? You can change your outcome. | Introducing Our Gut Health Programme! | This is why we created our Gut Health Programme — a science-led, whole-body approach designed to support real bodies. No extremes. No punishment. Just intelligent, sustainable support. This programme combines: It’s been an incredible journey exploring how our bodies function — and more importantly, what causes dysfunction. One of the biggest eye-openers? Genetics are only 25% of the story. The remaining 75% is lifestyle — and that’s powerful. | The 4 Key Pillars of Health True health is built on four interconnected pillars: 1. Nutrition What you eat directly affects how your body functions. 2. Physical Activity You are what you do every day. The amount and type of movement you get has huge implications for resilience, ageing, and longevity. We are the first generation of humans who do not move enough to stay healthy. 3. Sleep This is where the body rebuilds, regrows, and repairs. A sleep-deprived body cannot function optimally. 4. Behavioural Health Stress management, mindfulness, coping skills, anxiety support, and having a strong support system are essential for mental and physical wellbeing. When all four pillars are compromised, inflammation builds. If chronic inflammation persists unchecked, autoimmunity can be triggered. Having one autoimmune condition can triple your risk of developing another. | Food for Thought: We Literally Are What We Eat Every cell in your body is built from the food you consume. Good, wholesome, unprocessed food doesn’t just help you feel better — it adds years to your life and quality to those years. Research shows: -
Changing diet at age 40 can add up to 10 extra years to your lifespan -
Even at age 70, dietary changes can add 5 healthy years Ultra-processed foods are major contributors to: Everything is connected: This programme helps break that cycle. | Fascinating Food Facts Ultra-processed foods are: -
High in sugar, salt, additives, sweeteners, and emulsifiers -
Low in fibre, quality fats, and proteins -
Designed to be soft and easy to eat — which leads to overeating We eat ultra-processed food 50% faster than whole food. A 20% increase in eating speed = 15% more calories consumed. Slow down. Chew your food. Put the crunch back in your lunch. | | The Power of Consistency 💪 | Having the chance to attend up to 20 classes in one month is an incredible boost for body, mind, and spirit. Good habits are formed in 4 weeks — and these are habits that can literally change your life. Start with movement and nutrition — the rest will follow. | What’s New in the Studio? | ✨NEW CLASS: Monday Morning✨ | Mixed Studio Equipment A true Pilates playground inspired by Joe’s Gymnasium. This invigorating class uses the full range of studio equipment — Trapeze, Chair, Barrel, Jumpboard, and Vibration Plate — to build strength, agility, endurance, and restore youthful energy. You’ll leave feeling lighter, energised, and already looking forward to the next class. | ✨NEW CLASS: Thursday Evening 8pm✨ | Tower & Barre The Tower is grounded, spring-loaded, and incredibly intelligent. Because it doesn’t move, it allows you to focus deeply on control, alignment, and precision. Using springs attached to a stable mat, you’ll explore exercises that stretch, strengthen, and support the whole body. Ideal for beginners, injury recovery, or those seeking a slower, more mindful challenge — though don’t be fooled, you’ll still feel the work. The Tower is exceptional for spinal articulation and deep core control, transforming exercises like Roll Backs, Bridging, Push Through, and Teaser. The Barre adds standing strength, agility, and glide — giving your legs the grace of a dancer (no dance experience required!). | 🌸STARTING FEBUARY: CLASSICAL MAT PILATES 🌸 | The classical Pilates mat takes the body through all planes of motion, addressing every joint in a flowing, structured system. Transitions become exercises in themselves, creating a seamless, continuous full-body myofascial flow. This class closely follows Joseph Pilates’ original teachings, infused with Anne’s 30 years of experience in fascia and movement. | Why Choose Anne Sexton Teacher Training?
