Train with Anne Sexton, who brings over three decades of experience in movement and health, alongside a continued commitment to advancing her own education. As Director of the school, Anne is an NPCP Certified Pilates Teacher and comprehensively qualified instructor. Our 450-hour Comprehensive Teacher Training Programme follows the curriculum of the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP), and we are proud to be a listed school.

Successful completion of this programme makes you eligible to sit the NPCP exam—an internationally recognised, third-party certification. The mission of the NPCP is to protect the public and serve the Pilates profession by setting
and upholding standards for teacher credentialing and continuing education.

It remains the only international, independent certification of its kind.

Anne isn’t just teaching you exercises – she’s passing on a method she has spent close to 25 years mastering. Our Teacher Training Academy exists because Anne believes the standard of Pilates instruction matters. Too many courses rush students through a weekend certification with no depth, no anatomy, and no real understanding of the method. Our 450-hour programme is built differently. You’ll train on every piece of apparatus in a fully equipped working studio, learn the science behind the movement, and graduate ready to teach with genuine confidence and competence.

What You’ll Learn

Our comprehensive programme covers Anatomy and Movement Principles, Mat I-III, Reformer I-III, Trapeze and Tower, Chair, Barrel, and Barre. Each module combines theory, hands-on practice, observation hours, and supervised teaching. You won’t just learn the exercises – you’ll understand why they work, how to adapt them for different bodies, and how to build classes that deliver real results.

Who It’s For

Our students come from all backgrounds – fitness professionals looking to add depth to their practice, career changers, and people who fell in love with Pilates as clients and want to share it with others. What they all have in common is a willingness to work hard and learn properly.

Accreditation – National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP)

Anne Sexton Pilates Teacher Training is now listed with the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP), which is governed by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Anne, as Director of the school, has proudly held the NPCP Certified Pilates Teacher qualification since 2018.

How You’ll Be Taught

Every module is taught directly by Anne in our studio at Tinakilly. Class sizes are kept small so you get genuine hands-on guidance. You’ll practise teaching your peers, receive detailed feedback, and build the confidence to lead your own classes. Our graduates consistently say the training was demanding but the support made all the difference.

Where It Leads

Our graduates are now teaching across Ireland in studios, gyms, and private practice. Several have gone on to sit and pass the NCPT exam. Whether you want to teach full-time, add Pilates to an existing practice, or simply deepen your own understanding of the method, this programme gives you the foundation to do it properly.

Our Academy

Our Studio is based at the beautiful Tinakilly Country House in County Wicklow. Open seven days a week with over 40 classes, the studio is fully equipped with the complete range of Pilates apparatus – Reformers, Trapeze, Chair, Barrel and more. Every instructor is comprehensively trained and personally selected by Anne. We also run a 450-hour Teacher Training Academy, internationally accredited by the Pilates Method Alliance.

Why Choose Us

Why Train at an Accredited School

PSAP – Pilates School Approval Programme

In 2018, Anne travelled to Miami to take part in an international think tank and discussion group focused on Pilates teacher training and the development of industry standards.

In 2019, under the guidance of the Pilates Method Alliance, the Pilates School Approval Programme (PSAP) was established. Following a highly rigorous assessment process, Anne

Sexton Pilates Teacher Training was awarded PSAP accreditation in 2020.
This was a significant achievement and a reflection of many years of dedication.

It also represents Anne’s ongoing personal commitment to accountability, transparency, and maintaining the highest standards—continually investing in her own education to ensure she delivers the most current and high-quality training to her students.

National Pilates Certification Program

In 2023, the PSAP was replaced by a new programme, as it had been recognised as exceptionally difficult to attain, with only 25 schools worldwide achieving accreditation.

Why Does It Matter

Anyone can call themselves a Pilates teacher training school. The PSAP is independent, third-party proof that a school’s curriculum, teaching standards, and graduate outcomes have been assessed and approved. It’s the difference between a qualification employers trust and a certificate from a weekend course.

What it Means For Your Career

Graduating from a PSAP-approved school is a prerequisite for sitting the NCPT exam – the only independent Pilates certification in the world. Without it, you can’t sit the exam. With it, your qualification is recognised internationally and opens doors that other certificates simply don’t.

How Many Schools Have It

Only a handful of schools worldwide hold PSAP accreditation. Anne Sexton Pilates Teacher Training Academy is one of them, and was one of only five approved schools in Europe when the recognition was first awarded.
